Jane Lynch, who plays Adidas-lovin, tough-as-nails cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester on the FOX musical-comedy Glee, will be honored for her positivie contributions to gay-friendly film and theater at the Outfest Film Festival in Los Angeles this summer.
The outspoken, openly gay actress will accept the 14th annual Achievement Award, the festival’s highest honor, at the July 8 event, TheaterMania.com reports.
Lynch, a longtime gay rights activist, recently received a Golden Globe nomination for her work on Glee. Her other acting credits include The Real Life Brady Bunch, Julie & Julia, Post Grad, Desperate Housewives, and Weeds.
Jane is reportedly set to wed her longtime girlfriend, Dr. Lara Embry, later this spring. Lynch recently hit out at President Barack Obama for not making gay marriages legal across America – calling the nation’s leader a “huge disappointment.”
