Jamie Lynn Spears’ teen pregnancy is not the first time the clan of Hollywood Hillbillies has faced a DNA drama. William Spears, the brother of Spears family patriarch Jamie Spears, describes Jamie Lynn’s own conception, nearly seventeen years ago, as “an accident that nearly tore her family apart.” (An uncle who refers to you as an “accident,” how sweet.) In fact, Jamie was so surprised when his then-wife Lynn announced her third pregnancy in 1990 that he demanded a DNA test.

Willie tells In Touch Weekly that Jamie doubted that the youngest of his three children with Lynne was his because he had undergone a vasectomy years earlier:

“Lynne comes in one day and say, ‘I’m pregnant.’ Jamie got awfully mad. He said it couldn’t be his. He says, ‘We’re going to get a DNA test.’”

Of course, a paternity test later proved Jamie Lynn to be Jamie’s daughter:

“That’s why they named her Jamie Lynn, to kind of make the point that she was from both of them.”
