James Dean Inspired Pattinson’s Edward Cullen
If Twilight’s Edward Cullen’s perfect hair and outcast persona strick you as eeriely similar to those of 1950s bad boy James Dean, they should; Robert Pattinson has confirmed that the Rebel Without a Cause legend inspired his portrayal of the lovesick screen vamp.

“‘Rebel Without a Cause’ was a big influence on the first ‘Twilight’ film — it influenced the hairdo and stuff,” Pattz, who like Dean attracts flocks of women around the world, told USA Today last Friday. The love story between star-crossed sweethearts Bella Swan and Edward in the Twilight series is similar to James’ most famous role. “In lots of ways, it has a very similar character arc: An everyday girl brings this relatively strange individualout of his slump.”
James Dean died — at the height of his fame — from injuries he sustained in a car crash in 1955.
