Emma Watson will return to complete her studies at Brown University in 2013. In February 2011, the former child star dropped out of the prestigious Ivy League institution after being relentlessly bullied by classmates during three semesters of study.
The former Harry Potter actress enrolled at Brown in the Fall of 2009. She promptly began working toward dual degrees in European Women’s History and Drama. But Emma left the campus less than two years later, complaining of difficulties juggling her studies and professional acting career.
“I will still be working towards my degree…It’s just going to take me a semester or two longer than I thought. As you know, I love Brown and I love studying pretty much more than anything but recently I’ve had so much to juggle that being a student AND fulfilling my other commitments has become a little impossible.”
According to tabloid reports at the time, Watson was regularly taunted by her classmates, who got to know the star as she played Hermione in the wizard movie series. The teasing was persistent whenever Emma, a straight-A student in high school, tried to answer a question in class.
“They would respond with a quote from Harry Potter. The most popular choice was, ‘Three points for Gryffindor!'”
The report claimed that the taunts were not restricted only to the classroom. Watson suffered similar fate when she went out to watch a college football game.
