What went wrong?
His contract on Grey’s was not renewed and Isaiah got pissed off accusing T. R. Knight of causing the controversy in effort to boost his career and increase his salary. He also stated it was a race issue that he got fired.

On the set of Grey’s Anatomy he called his co-star T.R. Knight a faggot and grabbed Patrick Dempsey by the throat. A few days later T. R. Knight publicly came out. Washington issued a public apology, however at the Golden Globes (in an effort to be funny I guess) he dug up the incident again and said he never used the F word. After being rebuked by the studio he sought out counseling.
