Stringing together a flurry of her greatest hits and a whole lot of hair whipping, Beyonce reunited with her Destiny’s Child sistas for a critically-hailed showing at the Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show. Queen Bey used 135 back-up dancers and plenty of power to illuminate the stage at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans — a fact which prompted a series of Twitter gags suggesting the R&B diva caused an impromptu blackout that darkened the stadium for approximately 30 minutes.
With all the chatter floating ’round the Innanets, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell felt compelled to state, on the record, that Beyonce’s Halftime Show did not make the lights go out. In fact, the Halftime Show was running on its own generator.
Goddell said Monday:
“There’s no indication at all that this was caused by the Halftime Show. Absolutely not. I know that’s been out there that this Halftime Show had something to do with it. That is not the case.”
