The producers of the NBC summer reality series, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, have hit back at reports that The Hills’ Spencer and Heidi Pratt were tortured on the set of the show.
On Sunday, TMZ cited sources that claimed Heidi was tortured by NBC to the point where she was convulsively throwing up. The newlywed spent the night in a Costa Rican hospital on Saturday after falling ill during a taping.
In a message on her Twitter page on Sunday, Stephanie Pratt, Spencer’s sister, also alleged that her sister-in-law had been “locked in a dark room for 3 days w no food or water,” and that the show had felt it was “ok to punish speidi so harshly-and torture them as if they were criminals.”
In a statement to OK! Magazine on Sunday, the show’s producers denied accusations of mistreatment on the set of I’m A Celebrity….writing: “ITV Studios, producers of the series, state that press reports at this time are untrue. ITV has been producing this format around the world for many years and the health of the celeb participants are of the utmost importance. A medic and a doctor are present at the location at all times for all participants. All allegations of the celebrities being deprived of food and water are completely untrue.”
