Get ready to say buh-bye to one of TV’s endearing comedies.
CBS’ Emmy-winning How I Met Your Mother will close up shop next year, ending nine seasons of laughs for fans. The bad news here? Well, you’re probably not going to find out who the “Mother” is until the final episode is in the can.
CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler says the mystery woman who ends up with Josh Radnor’s Ted will be unveiled as the show wraps up.
“Through eight years, How I Met Your Mother has mastered the art of leading-edge comedy, emotional water-cooler moments and pop culture catch phrases. We are excited for Carter, Craig, Pam Fryman and this amazing cast to tell the final chapter and reveal television’s most mysterious mother to some of TV’s most passionate fans.”
Over the years, Mother has featured side-splitting guest spots from a host of big name stars, including Martin Short, Carrie Underwood, Britney Spears and Katy Perry.
All series regulars — Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan — are set to return for the show’s final season.
