Reality aficionados won’t see Honey Boo Boo matriarch June Shannon shaking what her Mama gave her on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars after all. TLC has put the kibosh on rumors that Shannon is joining the upcoming 16th season of the popular dance competition series.
Whispers about June’s affiliation with the program first swept the Innanets when an ABC insider told The New York Daily News that the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo Child star was being courted for a spot on the next installment DWTS. Not so, says TLC, parent network of Shannon’s breakout smash reality show.
Here Comes Honey Boo Boo became a breakout smash when it premiered to reality fans in August. The show follows the very Southern family from rural McIntyre, Georgia. The clan first gained fame when Alana, a child beauty queen, appeared on TLC’s Toddlers and Tiaras.
A rigorous promo tour recently helped June slim down. She told The Huffington Post:
“I have lost 115 pounds, but that’s because I’m on the go. We love fried food, but I lost that weight because I’m more active doing things.”
The next cast of fleet-footed celebrities to compete on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars will be revealed Feb. 26 on Good Morning America. TV’s top-rated dance competition series will kick off March 16 with a two-hour premiere episode. Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke-Charvet will once again return as co-hosts, appearing alongside a judging panel that includes Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli.
