The shanty home of another Slumdog Millionaire child star was torn down by Mumbai authorities on Wednesday.

Rubina Ali –the young girl whose father was accused of trying to sell her to journalists posing as a wealthy Arabs earlier this year — clasped prayer beads as she tearfully watched her home being knocked to the ground by local authorities.

Munni Qureshi — the stepmother the 9-year-old who portrayed a young Latika in the Oscar-winning film — said her husband was beaten by police who were supervising the demolition. He was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

“How can the police barge in anytime without giving us notice,” Qureshi cried.

“I’m feeling bad,” Rubina told The Associated Press. “My house had been demolished. I’m thinking about where to sleep.”

Slumdog Millionaire won eight Academy Awards and earned $326 million at the box office, but the film’s success has done absolutely nothing to improve the lives of the its impoverished child stars, who live in the city slum called Garib Nagar, or the “city of the poor.” Just last week, child actor Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail was left homeless after the shanty home his family had lived in for decades was demolished.

Slumdog producers say they have set up a trust fund that the kids will be granted access to once they reach 18.

(If these children continue living under these kinds of conditions, there’s a good chance they’ll never see 18.)
