Holly Madison Defends Right to Give Daughter Ridiculous Name
Girl Next Door Holly Madison was thinking anything but “wholesomeness” when she decided to give her newborn daughter a moniker arguably more appropriate for an aging stripper. Rainbow Aurora Rotella is barely a week old but she’s already drummed up a heap of controversy for Mommy Madison, perhaps best remembered for her time as one of Hugh Hefner’s bedwarmers.
Holly, 33, welcomed her first child at a Las Vegas hospital on the morning of March 5. Her fiance Pasquale Rotella was by her side.
In the days since delivery, Holly’s spent the brief moments between diaper and laundry duty blog-blasting “smug haters” who have hurled criticism at her unusual choice of baby name. The one-time Playboy Playmate says she doesn’t care what people think and wants her daughter to be grow up to be proud of who she is.
That’s a tall order when you’re getting laughed off the playground at the ripe old age of six. But let’s hear her out, shall we?
Explaining the name Rainbow, Holly wrote:
“I have always loved the name Rainbow. There was a girl in my school a few years younger than me named Rainbow and I was so envious of her name because it was so pretty and unusual. She was perfectly normal, well-adjusted, sporty girl, by the way, so I’m not worried about my daughter being ‘traumatized’ by having an unusual name.”
She added:
“There are a lot of smug haters out there who bag on my choice of a name, but I don’t care about what they think. I want my daughter to be proud of who she is and learn to speak up and stand up for herself at a young age. I spent most of my life being a people-pleaser who worried about what other people thought or thought was cool and I don’t want that for her.”
Holly says she feels blessed since giving birth. She even celebrated little Rainbow’s arrival by getting a special manicure in her honor.
“I got my nails done Rainbow colors to celebrate my new daughter’s name!”
