Helen Hunt To Replace Maura Tierney On “Parenthood”
Helen Hunt is being eyed for role on the new NBC sitcom Parenthood after actress Maura Tierney pulled out of the project to turn her focus to battling breast cancer.
Production on Parenthood went on hiatus in July to allow Tierney — who appears in the series pilot — to undergo a “medical evaluation” after she was diagnosed with cancer. The star formally withdrew from the cast last week.

Hunt — who won two Emmys during her seven year stint on another NBC comedy, Mad About You – has reportedly been approached by producers to take over the part of a sibling in a family of four adults if she signs up for the TV adaptation of Ron Howard’s 1989 movie. Current cast members include Peter Krause, Erika Christensen, Dax Shepard, Bonnie Bedelia, and Craig T.Nelson.
