A blood clot killed Heavy D.

The ’80s hip-hopster and noted actor died from a pulmonary embolism caused by deep leg vein thrombosis, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office said Tuesday. A pulmonary embolism is a blockage of one or more arteries in the lungs -— most often caused by blood clots which travel in from other parts of he body. In Heavy’s case, the fatal clot was formed in his legs.

He also had arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

The 44-year-old, whose real name was Dwight Errington, died at a Los Angeles hospital after collapsing outside his Beverly Hills home on Nov. 8. Coroner’s office spokesman Craig Harvey said Hev’s weight and a recent transcontinental jet flight were contributing factors.
