American toy stores can’t get enough of Heath Ledger as “The Joker.” Toy stores in New York City are selling out of an action hero figurine of the late Australian actor as the evil villain in the new Batman film Dark Knight, to premiere in theaters this summer.
“There are no left in the warehouse, either. You’ll be waiting for a while if you want one,” an employee at Toys ‘R’ Us- Time Square told the New York Post on Wednesday.
Priced at $9.99, many buyers are making at least five times their profit by selling the figures for as much as $55.00 on eBay.
“I heard one guy bought 30 of them, people are buying them up as collector’s items,” says one NYC comic book shop manager.
Heath Ledger, 29, died of an accidental drug overdose in New York City last January. The actor was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in the 2004 film Brokeback Mountain.

The manufacturers should have anticipated this long before. They should start making a lot fast because it might just be lost in memory.
