Existing doesn’t count as shoving our opinions down your throat. Wanting to be recognized as a valid member of society doesn’t count as shoving our opinions down your throat. Wanting to see relationships we personally have the ability to connect with doesn’t count as shoving our opinions down your throat. Wanting to see a gay/lesbian relationship in a mature context that lasts for more than a single make-out/threesome scene does not count as shoving our opinions down your throat. Wanting to not be marginalized or written out of the script because a small group of people who isolate themselves from anyone that contradicts their personal view of morality does not count as shoving our opinions down your throat.

But telling people that they’re entire existence doesn’t merit a single storyline that probably won’t outlast half a season of Heroes because people like you are horrified by it? Well. I wonder what you call that.

As you can see, she’s more likely to fall for a woman than a psychopathic serial killer who also happens to be struggling with the mind of the man he murdered. And you disgust me for thinking she would.

And as far as this plot-line being out of left-field. It isn’t. Let’s not forget, Claire hasn’t stated one way or the other if she actually wants to be with Gretchen. There is an interest and an obvious attraction, but any lesbian can tell you that doesn’t always lead to happy endings. If it is, the writers are taking their time to develop a romance. If not, it’ll end like a lot of college lesbian relationships. Why don’t we wait and see how it turns out.

Here it is – we ALL get to form our own opinions as individuals. So why am I to be ashamed of my opinion? I do not dislike the people of the gay/lesbian community. I do however disagree with their lifestyle. Under that personal opinion I do not surround myself with those who are gay/lesbian. I also chose by my own free will to not watch shows, movies, or other media which ‘normalizes’ those relationships. So I get a label ‘closed minded’ or ‘homophobe’ hmmm this is of concern because I fear next I could be labeled for my opinion of where I CHOOSE to live. Am I a ’suburbiphobe’? I also don’t like cable, uh-oh I am one those ‘cableiphobes.’ I have know some people who don’t like dogs, you know the type ‘canineiphobes’. Sorry that probably gets my point across and I know some of those phobias are real although I did not look for the proper terms.

So can we all please just stop with the ‘you must be a homophobe’ crap. We have opinions have opinions that differ and that is our right as individual humans. Personaly I think life in general on this earth would suck if we thought the same things.

Anyhow just take minute and think about why those of us who disagree should be labeled as the ‘closed minded’.

This is no reason to stop watching it of course. It’s still an amazing series. The story never specified that it would be people saving other peoples’ lives, though some of them do.

I personally do not care if she’s lesbian, but it’s just not logical for her to magically turn lesbian after being interest in boys and only boys her whole life. The story could have stayed the same without her friend kissing Claire, therefore I call this a desperate move for ratings.

Attention: Heroes is not going to be ruined as a result of a bisexual/gay plotline! It will still be the same amazing show-if not better! I look more forward to watching the series after Monday’s episode!

….Wow…you know what’s overdone? Straight romances. Because guess what? They’ve been done on every show, book and video game since god knows how long. You guys look at this as a gay plotline and such. How about you look at it as a romance? Because quite frankly…that’s what it is. Why is it that people never have a fuss about gays until it’s in their entertainment? We see straight characters all the time, do we complain that there should be less of them? No, we say nothing and hope that there will at some point be a gay character on the show. We get 1 gay character if we’re lucky and then people complain that the shows being ruined. Guess what? There are gay people in real life, I bet every one of you knows a gay person. Do you look at them and say, “You’re ruining my life by being there.” No, you don’t. Unless you are a completely uncouth being that is. Anyways, the fact is, we’re people too. But when it comes to being shown as real people, we get flack. Put yourselves in our shoes. What if we were getting upset about Claire suddenly being straight? You’d feel cornered, bullied. I understand that you guys are upset because this is out of left field but really…are you going to take away us being recognized? And hell! This is only a bisexual character and you’re freaking out. She’s not even gay! You guys might say you’re not homophobic but you know what?

Society’s mores are very specific. People either agree or disagree on any definition of free but ultimately, these definitions are controlled by such commonalities.

And on the moral side of things- how laughable that you moralists would rather see Claire have a relationship with a depraved serial murderer and adulterer (taking over Parkman’s body to sleep with his wife), than with a sweet girl who genuinely seems to care about her. Gee, how terrible.

The sad thing I was thinking to myself as I noticed this storyline developing basically as soon as these two met, was that it also felt rather contrived to me- and the reason why it felt that way is because homosexuality is such a big “issue” that addressing the topic starts to seem like a way for a show to manufacture controversy- and it only seems this way because of the hypocritical mores of our supposedly “free” society.
