From Norma Jean to Katy? Broadway producer Harvey Weinstein is eyeing the possibility of turning the upcoming cinema drama My Week With Marilyn into a stage musical, and according to E! News, he already has an award-winning pop star in mind for the lead role:
Shh — don’t tell Lindsay.
The film stars Michelle Williams as Monroe It’s based on the memoirs of Colin Clark, an assistant of Laurence Olivier, who spent a week of frolicking and no-strings-attached sex with the married screen icon in when she was in the UK filming The Prince And The Show Girl in 1957. Weinstein met Perry in 2010, when he treated his daughters to an evening at the annual Jingle Ball concert at Madison Square Garden. Katy was a featured headliner. A remix of her new song, The One That Got Away, can be heard in a trailer for My Week with Marilyn and has helped generate interest among her fans. Harry thinks she’s ideal for the role.
He told E!:
“If the movie works, I would try to make it a musical and I would go to Katy [Perry] first. I mean Michelle could do it. Michelle is so good she could do it live, if she ever wanted to do it. I don’t know if she would ever want to revisit it, but Katy would blow it out of the universe, and that’s the kind of Broadway show I’d like to make.”
