“Hannah Montana” Ratings Drop Post-Vanity Fair Scandal

Are the young people of America “over” Hannah Montana? Disney’s top-rated series took a nosedive in ratings over the weekend, following the airing of the show’s first fresh episode in the wake of star Miley Cyrus’ Vanity Fair Magazine nude scandal.
Sunday’s brand new episode of Hannah Montana saw a 14% decline in viewership in comparision to the previous fresh episode, which aired before the nude scandal’ broke, the Nielsen Company reports. Sunday’s audience was down 26% compared with the first show of the season, which aired in January.
“Have no fear,” Disney heads say. The Hannah phenomenon is still alive and well.
“With a new season of shows coming up, a new record in July and a theatrical film next year, the ‘Hannah Montana’/Miley Cyrus franchise is incredibly robust,” Disney president and chief executive officer, Bob Iger said in a statement on Wednesday.
