Gwyneth Paltrow Shampoo Cancer Fear
Gwyneth Paltrow has come under fire from health experts after she warned shampoo could lead to cancer.
Members of the medical community wish the star would keep her Goop.com advice doling limited to snippets about diet and execise.
The actress said her concerns arose after she read research about what she calls “environmental toxins,” which are found in products such as shampoo and lotion.
“A couple of years ago I was asked to give a quote for a book concerning environmental toxins and their effects on our children. While reading up on the subject, I was seized with fear about what the research said.”
Gwyn’s in trouble after issuing a public warning, purporting to expose reportedly the dangers of shampoo last week, saying, “Fetuses, infants and toddlers are basically unable to metabolize toxins the way adults are, and we are constantly filling our environment with chemicals that may or may not be safe.”
Bacteriologist professor Hugh Pennington begs to differ. The good doctor insists that unless you drink shampoo in large quantities, it is safe.
“It does annoy me when celebrities use their position to spout nonsense,” Pennington blasted the Oscar-winning actress in an interview with The Mirror on Monday. “They have a perfect right to their views, even if they are loopy, but they do hold a position of influence.”
