Gunman Opens Fire at LAX; TSA Officer Killed, Others Wounded
First responders surrounded Terminal 3 at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Friday morning after a lone gunman opened fire. Witnesses say they heard “about a dozen gunshots” after a male shooter in his twenties reportedly confronted a 46-year-old security worker at a checkpoint inside the terminal.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman, Brian Humphrey says emergency crews have responded to a multi-patient incident. At least three people have been shot; the TSA officer was reportedly mortally wounded. It was not immediately clear if there were any other victims.
The Federal Aviation Administration has grounded all flights preparing to take off for LAX. Nick Jonas and James Franco were both on flights that landed at LAX and ended up stranded on the tarmac.
“Currently waiting on the plane in a remote parking area. I am safe. Praying for the victims of this shooting.”
Franco, on the other hand, was a bit more direct, writing:
“At #lax Some sh*tbag shot up the place.”
A motive for the shooting remains unclear.
