“Gossip Girl” Threesome Episode Slammed By Parents Television Council
The Parents Television Council (PTC) has a bone to pick with the small screen’s most stylish Upper East Siders. The Council has asked The CW Network to pull next Monday night’s episode of Gossip Girl, which will feature an NC-17 rated threesome featuring a trio of the show’s main characters.
PTC President Tim Winter has written a letter to Dawn Ostroff, president of The CW, as well as every CW affiliate in the country, requesting that the Nov. 9 episode of Gossip Girl not air.
“To include a storyline like this on a program that is expressly targeted to impressionable teenagers is reckless and irresponsible. We are asking each CW Network affiliate to use their common sense and preempt this episode,” Winter wrote in the letter obtained by TheWrap.com.
Ads teasing the “Gossip Girl Threesome” began airing this week on the CW.
Winter warns that the “PTC will monitor this episode very closely” and the group “will not hesitate to contact local and national advertisers; and if this program violates broadcast decency law, rest assured that our members will contact the Federal Communications Commission.”
This isn’t the first time the PTC has taken the show to task. In 2008, the group took issue with the envelope-pushing “OMFG” campaign that featured a shirtless Chace Crawford in bed with an older woman and Ed Westwick feeding Leighton Meester a cherry.
