“Glee” Will End After Season 6

You’ve said goodbye to Cory Monteith, now get ready to say goodbye to Glee for good: Series creator Ryan Murphy has announced that the award-winning comedy-musical will end after its sixth season — and the death of Monteith, who played Finn Hudson on the show, will play a prominent part in the final run.

Speaking to reporters after a Paley Center event Wednesday, Ryan told TV Line that Cory’s death of a heroin overdose in July has changed the way he always planned to end the series, which is set to wind up during the 2014-2015 season.

“The whole [last] year of the show — which will be next year — was really designed around Rachel-Cory/Finn story. I always knew that. I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was — he was in it. I knew what the last line was; she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do.”

But he added:

“I have a good idea.”
