“Glee” Disses The Lohans…Again
Glee’s making a habit of hiring guest stars to offend The Lohans.
How long has it been since the cast of the Emmy-winning musical-comedy tracked Lindsay Lohan down at a Hollywood restaurant to apologize for slamming her on national television? A week? As 28 million viewers sat glued to their tubes, the popular show took another swipe at the famously dysfunctional family during Sunday’s post-Super Bowl special, this time, directing the insults at its matriarch (and the show’s most outspoken critic), Dina Lohan and her fictional dog!
The Lohans have been at the throats of Glee bosses since last November, when Gwyneth Paltrow — guest starring as a quirky Spanish teacher — poked fun at Lindsay’s five seemingly unsuccessful stints in rehab. On last weekend’s show, CBS Nightly News host Katie Couric interviewed cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch), who was dubbed “Loser Of The Year” in a Couric/Gallup poll. Here’s where the trouble starts: Sue narrowly beat out Dina, according to Katie.
Naturally, poor widdle Dina is just devastated over the slight. (Cue the violins!)
“So much for the peace between the Lohan family and Glee,” a Lohan insider told PopEater on Monday. “They are all a bunch of bullies. Dina is hurt and shocked and hasn’t done anything to deserve this constant teasing from this show.”
In a statement to E! News, Dina herself trashed Glee’s writers, who she cryptically warned to “be nice,” if they hope to stay on her good side.
“The show has targeted everyone from gays to lesbians, Asians, disabled and each other…several groups are going after the producers including mothers’ groups,” said Dina, who also had choice words for Couric.
“It’s a shame as the dance numbers are amazing, but the writers need to be nice and more creative as opposed to being hurtful. They are sending the wrong message to the youth that are watching. Oh, and I must get a ‘fifth’ dog named Sparky…as far as Katie Couric is concerned, she has a short memory when the tabloids were trashing her a few years ago—and she’s a mom!”
Michael Lohan, Lindsay’s dad, also weighed in on the latest Lohan/Glee controversy: “As true as this might be, it is wrong. Dina deserves a lot worse of a title after all she has done to destroy the relationships with my kids and entire family.”
Ah, there’s nothing like an episode of Glee to make a dysfunctional family air out their dirty laundry in the media.
