Get well soon, George Michael. A publicist for the former Wham! singer says George has been admitted to a Vienna hospital with pneumonia.
Michael, 48, was due to appear in the Austrian city on Monday, as part of his current tour, but cancelled two hours before the concert was due to start. At the time,
the show’s promoters, Show Connection, said the “Last Christmas” star was suffering from an inflammation of the respiratory system and had acted on a doctor’s recommendation.
Michael’s longtime publicist, Connie Filippello, now confirms that singer has been “diagnosed with pneumonia and he is currently receiving treatment.” Michael’s upcoming tours in Vienna, Strasbourg, France, and Cardiff, Wales, have been postponed and are expected to be rescheduled.
The singer — who first found fame in the 1980s and has gone on to sell more than 100 million records worldwide – has performed about 45 shows as part of his “Symphonica – The Orchestral Tour,” which began in August. Earlier this month, the star performed a special gig at the Royal Opera House in London, which raised money for Sir Elton John’s AIDS Foundation.
