Crossdressing rock singer Peter Robinson, also known as “Marilyn,” is making headlines after confirming that he once had a steamy love affair with Gwen Stefani’s husband, Gavin Rossdale.

The alleged five year affair began in the mid-eighties. According to the androgynous Marilyn, both parties agreed to keep their relationship a secret for how fear that exposure of Gavin’s bisexuality would impact the success of his band, Bush.

“He was just becoming successful in America,” Marilyn explains in a new interview with In Touch Weekly. “I agreed to lie against every grain of my being.”

He says Gavin –who would later go on to father model Daisy Lowe after a one-night stand– was the love of his life.

“We were together five years,” Marilyn says. “But it felt like 40.”
