Garth Brooks Las Vegas Show Encore Theater Wynn Las Vegas
Garth Brooks, the best-selling solo musician in U.S. history, ended his semi-retirement on Thursday and announced 15 concert dates at Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas.
Brooks will performs five weekend shows at the Encore Theater beginning on 11 December and running until the end of February.
The specific dates are: 11-13 December, 1-3 January, 22-24 January, 12-14 February and 26-28 February. More weekend dates at the Wynn will be announced in the coming weeks as part of a five-year deal with casino boss Steve Wynn. The weekend shows will consist of one Friday, two on Saturday and another on Sunday.
Wearing his familiar black cowboy hat, Garth announced his Vegas residency alongside resort owner Steve Wynn during a press conference Thursday.
“I am naturally nervous, but it feels good to be out from under the low ceiling of retirement I put on myself,” he said. Brooks officially retired in 2001, saying he would devote himself to his three daughters at his home in Owasso, Oklahoma, until his youngest turned 18. She is now 13.
Wynn is providing a private jet for Brooks to commute from his Oklahoma home, where he lives with his three daughters and his wife, singer Trisha Yearwood, to Vegas.
“When Steve Wynn approached me about playing, he did something different than anybody else had. He didn’t throw money at me… Every argument you ever had of why you didn’t do this, he had an answer for.”
The 1,602-seat Encore Theatre has not had a permanent headliner since the death of comedian Danny Gans from a combination of prescription painkillers and a heart condition in May.
