Furious 7 has been unbelievable at the box office, setting record after record, in an unprecedented way that no one could have predicted. The film crossed the $1 billion mark a while ago and is rising even higher.
Sure, everyone thought it would be big due to people wanting to pay their respects to Paul Walker, but one of the biggest films of all time? The other films in the series certainly didn’t enjoy that kind of success.
The most recent film in the Fast and Furious franchise recently became the third highest grossing film of all time at the worldwide box office, something that most people would have never predicted to happen. The film sits at third behind only Titanic and Avatar.
Furious 7 has now made $1.52 billion at the worldwide box office, a statistic that is almost hard to imagine, recently racing past Marvel’s The Avengers, which had held the third spot since 2012.
The Avengers and its sequel, Avengers: Age Of Ultron, now sit at the 4th and 5th spots after being passed by the car racing blockbuster film. Furious 7 has broken records before including being the fastest film to earn $1 billion and its soundtrack, particularly Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” has been having great success as a single.
The box office has been having a wild ride as of lately with the new Jurassic World breaking multiple records as well and earning the highest opening weekend at the box office ever, among others. The dinosaur blockbuster film is already at #22 on the global box office and should be able to enter the top 10 easily by the time it leaves theaters.
Furious 7 should stick around for a while longer if it is still making this much money, but with the recent release of Jurassic World, will the dinos be able to take over the fast cars by the time they both exit theaters?
