Furious 7, the seventh film in the Fast and Furious franchise, has been doing unbelievably well at the box office all around the world. It is hard to even imagine how quickly the film continues to bring in so much money and it just crossed a major milestone at the box office.
There are, of course, other recent blockbuster films that have grossed over $1 billion, but none have achieved that high milestone as quickly as Furious 7 did. The film is the last that will feature Paul Walker after his tragic death and many people have been rushing to the theater in order to pay tribute to the actor.
In addition to the large sums of money that the film is bringing in, the song “I’ll See You Again” by Wiz Khalifa that was written for the late Paul Walker has also been rising to the top of every music chart and even setting records on Spotify.
Furious 7 was released on April 3rd and it quickly rose to one of the highest grossing films of all time, likely a surprise to many people. Sure, people want to pay their respects to Paul Walker, but who was expecting it to make this much money?
The film crossed the $1 billion mark on Friday, accomplishing that feat in just 17 days, beating out major films such as The Avengers, Avatar, and Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part 2, which all took 19 days to reach $1 billion.
The action film currently sits at $1.15 billion in international grosses, $294 million of that coming from domestic theaters. It is highly likely that Furious 7 will remain at the top at least until Avengers: Age Of Ultron comes out on May 1st, although with all of the excitement surrounding that film and the success of the first one, it may even break the recent record set by Furious 7.
Furious 7 is currently number 7 on the list of all-time highest-grossing movies worldwide. Their title may be taken away by the Avengers team, but Vin Diesel and company will certainly enjoy being at the top while they can.
