France’s First Lady, a former supermodel turned songstress, is making her acting debut, filming scenes this week in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris.

The legendary lensman recruited Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, 42, for a bit part in his latest romantic last fall. Bruni-Sarkozy plays a museum director in the Owen Wilson-assisted film about an American family who travels to Paris for business.

Even Carla’s husband hubby, President Nicolas Sarkozy, showed up on the Left Bank set on Tuesday, in dark suit to watch his spouse in her latest creative venture. Tuesday’s scenes were shot near the city’s Pantheon, the resting place of many of France’s luminaries.

“I’m not at all an actress. Maybe I’ll be absolutely terrible,” she said in an interview with Canal Plus TV station.

However, she said she couldn’t pass up the chance to appear in a Woody Allen original.

“I’d like to – you know – when I’m a grandmother, to have done a Woody Allen film,” said Bruni-Sarkozy, who has a son from a previous relationship. “I cannot in my life miss an opportunity like this.”

Midnight in Paris opens next year.
