Frances Bean Cobain — the teenage daughter of grunge pioneers Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love — turned down the chance to star alongside Oscar-nominated stars Johnny Depp and Anne Hathaway in Tim Burton’s new film adaptation of Alice In Wonderland.

The acclaimed director reportedly considered Francis, 17, for the title role in the new blockbuster, but Cobain rejected the part in favor of focusing on her education.

“Tim thought she would be perfect, but she wants to go to university. She’s incredibly focused and sensible,” a source tells London’s Mail on Sunday.

The film, starring newcomer Mia Wasikowska in the role of Alice, debuts in theaters next March.
