FOX Apologizes For Jessica Simpson NFL Skit
Jessica Simpson is once again under fire for her waistline — but this time, it’s not from supermarket tabloids, it’s from the National Football League
In a new animated short, sponsored by Burger King, which aired during FOX NFL Sunday on October 11, cartoon caricatures of Tony Romo’s Dallas Cowboys teammates and coach take turns taking cheap shots at the quarterback’s former girlfriend and her physique.
In the clip, running back Marion Barber says, “Man, I still can’t believe Tony dated Jessica Simpson, even after she blew up bigger than (teammate) Flozell Adams!”, to which player Jason Witten responds: “Unlike Tony, at least Jessica comes up big when it counts!”
Their coach Wade Phillips then quips, “Say Tony, is Jessica around? We could use a defensive tackle!”
FOX have now apologized to the star, who was subjected to media criticism after showing up to a county fair in Florida sporting a rounder figure earlier this year.
“Upon reflection, our poor attempt at humour was insensitive and we deeply apologise to anyone who might have been offended,” reads a statement released by FOX.
