A South Florida town manager was fired at an emergency meeting this week after the mayor and council members learned that he married an adult film star in a ceremony last year. The Fort Myers Beach Town Council voted 5-0 to fire Scott Janke “without cause” on Tuesday — although they insist their decision is not based on the fact that Anabela Janke is a professional “professional,” who goes by the stage name Jazella Mota Moore.

“We didn’t fire him because his wife was a porn star…It was not his job performance. We all liked Scott … He’s a good guy….What we were addressing was a situation where we weren’t going to be able to govern the town with all the disruption and interruption,” says Mayor Larry Kiker.

Janke will get a severance package worth six months salary, which comes to approximately $50,000, plus health benefits. Legal analysts tell The Associated Press that Scott Janke’s rights may have been violated, adding that he could have good grounds for a lawsuit against the Town of Fort Myers Beach.
