FlashForward Fans Stage Protests Blackouts
Fans of the recently cancelled ABC series FlashForward staged a mass global protest against the show’s demise on Thursday – - creating mock blackouts in several major cities including New York, London, and Los Angeles to convince network bosses to revive the drama.
The program — which starred Joseph Fiennes, Courtney Vance, and Gabrielle Union — centred around a mass blackout in which the majority of the world’s population loses consciousness for several minutes and has a glimpse into the future.
The fake blackouts saw faithful viewers fall to the ground simultaneously for a total of two minutes and 17 seconds in Britain, Ireland, Canada, and Italy, as well as a string of American cities — including Atlanta, Seattle, Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles; where fans holding “Save FlashForward” signs fainted outside the ABC Studios in Burbank.
ABC pulled the plug on the cult series after the conclusion of its first season, citing poor ratings.
