Apple fans and film aficionados are getting their first look at Ashton Kutcher as late tech genius Steve Jobs.
The Two and a Half Men actor, 31, will portray that late Apple guru in the upcoming biopic jOBS,slated to close out next month’s Sundance Film Festival in Utah. The film is based on Walter Isaacson’s bestselling biography Steve Jobs, a tome comprised of approximately 40 interviews with the inventor and more than 100 conversations with his friends, families, colleagues, and contemporaries. Isaacson’s biography was the first of its kind to receive Jobs’ blessing and full cooperation.
Jobs and his pal Steve “The Woz” Wozniak pioneered Apple Computers in The Jobs’ San Francisco garage in the late 1970s. The story of the Apple boss’ life was previously depicted in the Emmy-nominated 1999 telemovie, Pirates of Silicon Valley, which starred E.R.’s Noah Wyle as Jobs.
Steve Jobs died at his home in California on October 5, 2011, ending a decade-long battle with pancreatic cancer.
