The Fan-Made “How I Met Your Mother” Finale That’s More Popular Than The Actual Series Closer
To suggest that How I Met Your Mother fans were displeased with this week’s series finale would be an understatement.
The hit comedy ended its nine season run on CBS Monday night. The last few minutes of the finale revealed that Ted’s wife — “The Mother” — died of some mystery illness (as many eagle-eyed fans guessed episodes ago), paving the way for him to get back together with Robin, who eventually divorced Barney.
For every one die-hard viewer who enjoyed the series closer, ten more would down a gallon of Brain Bleach just to erase it from memory. Ricardo J. Dylan is among the latter.
Determined to take matters into his own hands, Ricardo used a little technological know-how and the wonders of the Interwebs to tweak the finale. A few precisely placed final edits later and the web was presented with an alternate ending that’s quickly gaining popularity among HIMYM’s disgruntled core fan base.
Now if it could only avoid the long-armed reach of CBS’ copyright infringement claims long enough for said fan base to actually see it.
“This is my personal cut of the ending. I believe that this is more like the ending that we deserve and that through all this years have been waiting for, in my mind this is how I will personally remember the end of my favorite show.”
