Getting paid to prance around in your underpants and then being treated “like a piece of meat.”
Who woulda thunk it!?
A former Victoria’s Secret model claims she was mistreated during her brief tenure with the lingerie brand — but Vicky’s bosses say the girl’s full of it.
Remember Kylie Bisutti? The leggy bombshell was ecstatic when she won the Victoria’s Secret American Model Search in 2009. But four years later, Bisutti says the opportunity wasn’t the big break she thought it would be.
In an interview with The New York Post this week, Kylie claimed VS suits made her feel like “a piece of meat” and that she was told to “play down [her] marriage” because she “was supposed to be flirting with everyone all the time.”
“That’s when it hit me. I was being paid to strip down and pose provocatively to titillate men. It wasn’t about modeling clothes anymore — I felt like a piece of meat.”
The former model is now a Born-Again Christian and has written about her experience in a new book, titled I’m No Angel: From Victoria’s Secret Model to Role Model. She claims she walked away from her career on the catwalk to “honor her husband with her body.” But Vicky’s tells a different story.
A rep for Victoria’s Secret told People magazine Thursday that Bisutti hasn’t worked for the brand since winning the amateur model search, despite her relentless efforts to align herself with the retailer.
“Ms. Bisutti has made numerous fabrications and misstatements of fact regarding her brief association with Victoria’s Secret. In 2009, Ms. Bisutti won an online amateur modeling competition and hasn’t worked for us since that year. The prize for the winning contestant was the unique opportunity to a one-time walk in the 2009 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.”
The statement adds:
“Ms. Bisutti also participated in a swim photo shoot in 2009. That was the extent of Ms. Bisutti’s involvement with Victoria’s Secret. She was never a Victoria’s Secret ‘Angel’ as defined by the terms of our Angel model contract. And contrary to Ms. Bisutti’s claims, she was never offered any subsequent modeling contracts or opportunities with Victoria’s Secret despite her multiple appeals for further work. She has repeatedly fabricated her work experience with Victoria’s Secret — including a relationship that simply did not exist.”
