Evan Chandler Dead; Father Of Michael Jackson Accuser Commits Suicide
The father of the 13-year-old boy who accused late pop legend Michael Jackson of molesting him in 1993 was found dead of an apparent suicide in his Jersey City home earlier this month, The New Jersey Journal said Tuesday.
Evan Chandler, 65, was found dead on his bed at 33 Hudson Street of a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head, says Jersey City Police spokesman Stan H. Eason, who adds that the gun was still in Chandler’s hand when authorities discovered the body.
Police checked on Chandler after they received a call from a Bayonne doctor, who was concerned because the man had missed an appointment. The doctor told police that Chandler had been critically ill in the months leading up to his death.
In the early 1990s, the former Beverly Hills dentist told police the King of Pop, who died on June 25, molested his son, Jordan, then 13, repeatedly during the teen’s frequent visits to the singer’s Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara.
The Chandlers later accepted a $20 million payout from Jackson.
