A Los Angeles entrepreneur committed suicide just weeks after his estranged wife, Deal or No Deal model Katie Cleary, was spotted cozying up to notorious modelizer Leonardo DiCaprio in a Cannes nightclub.
Andrew Stern, 40, died Monday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. His body was at a shooting range in the San Fernando Valley.
Katie, 35, allegedly told investigators that Andrew had been battling depression and that they were in the middle of a divorce at the time of his death. Police also interviewed other sources close to Stern, who revealed that he was anxious over his marital issues and growing financial troubles. Stern — who was once featured on Bravo’s Millionaire Matchmaker — was co-founder of RipLounge.
Katie was a contestant on America’s Next Top Model before landing her big break as a briefcase model on the now-defunct NBC game show. The bombshell’s most recent headlines came, however, after she was photographed in the company of Hollywood lothario Leo DiCaprio.
On May 19, the Gangs of New York actor was caught whispering lovingly into Cleary’s ear during a night out at Gotha Nightclub. Both were in France for the Cannes Film Festival and it didn’t take long for tongues to start wagging about the nature of their relationship.
Over the years, Leo’s been linked to a bevy of leggy catwalkers; including supermodels Gisele Bundchen and Bar Refaeli. Despite reports that Katie left with the Hollywood baddie, we now hear that Leo left the establishment with his girlfriend Toni Gaarn…a Victoria’s Secret model. (Obviously.) DiCaprio and Cleary haven’t been spotted together since.
