England’s Princess Zara set to compete in the London Olympics
Princess Zara is set to compete in the London Olympic Games. Phillips won a slot on the equestrian team after a great showing on her horse High Kingdom.
“It’s awesome to be given this opportunity,” Phillips said in a statement. “I am really excited and can’t wait to kick on and get him there.” Zara was eligible for the 2008 Beijing games but she was forced to withdraw because of an injury to her then-horse. “[High Kingdom is] pretty pony-like, a nippy little jumper and easy to maneuver,” says Phillips. “So hopefully it will suit him well in Greenwich.”
Zara’s parents, Princess Anne and Capt. Mark Phillips, also competed for the UK Equestrian Team at the Montreal and Munich Olympics.
