Emma Watson Vogue Magazine July 2011

Hermione who? Vogue’s July cover model looks stunning in Prada on the front of the magazine shot by Mario Testino. There’s little trace of the frizzy-haired girl wizard in Emma Watson’s new, glammed-up shots for The Fashion Bible — although Emma says she has a lot in common with her Harry Potter alter ego.

“Hermione is so close to who I am as a person that I’ve never really had to research a role,” the fashion-forward actress remarks on the pages of the July 2011 issue of the magazine, saying taking on new roles is “literally rediscovering what it means to be an actress.”

The final installment of the Harry Potter film franchise is due for release next month. As the series that catapulted her to stardom as a preteen comes to an end, Watson talks about the next chapter of her life. She opened up about life after Harry Potter during an intimate interview in London.

“It’s a really exciting time for me… I’m rediscovering what it means to be an actress,” she admits, adding “and this is just the start.”

Emma is deferring from her studies to promote the final Potter film — just another bump in her quest to have a more “normal” life. The 21-year-old former Brown University student is anixious to continue her studies at Britain’s prestigious Oxford University later in the year.

“I have felt for the last 10 years I have had this battle; I’ve been fighting so hard to have an education,” she said. “It’s been this uphill struggle. I was Warner Bros’ pain in the butt. I was their scheduling conflict. I was the one who made life difficult.”

In the cover interview for Vogue, Emma also reveals that she was inspired to start a new chapter in her life after reading Patti Smith’s memoirs Just Kids, citing the singer-songwriter, poet and artist as a role model: “I really felt that life was more beautiful after I read it, and I felt more hopeful.”
