Emma Roberts Lindsay Lohan: “It’s Hard To Take Her Seriously”

The niece of Academy Award winner Julia Roberts has dissed Lindsay Lohan, while praising actress Anne Hathaway. This could get ugly.

Emma Roberts aims to follow the career path of Anne Hathaway because the Oscar-nominated actress is one of the few to make a successful transition from teen star to the Hollywood A-list–just don’t expect to hear any kind words about celebrity trainwreck Lindsay Lohan, who is also a former Disney star.

In a new interview with Moviefone.com, Julia Roberts’ almost 18-year-old niece, who shot to fame starring on the NICK series Unfabulous in 2004, gives fellow child stars advice on how to successfully move from child roles to more mature movies and characters.

“I just think it’s very thin ice you’re walking on, to make the transition from child actor to adolescence. Because, you know, so many people just mess it up, and they do things that are so outrageous.”

Anne’s first big role came in the 2001 Disney picture The Princess Diaries and she is now nominated for an Oscar for Rachel Getting Married, Emma points out. But in her opinion, Lohan has failed to complete that transition successfully.

“Like, Lindsay Lohan, you still know that she was in Freaky Friday and The Parent Trap, and it’s hard to take her seriously,” she admits. “So that’s why I really like – like, Anne Hathaway is a great example. I think she’s been nominated for so many awards this year. And the fact that she starred in a Disney movie when she was in her teens – a lot of people don’t even know that, I don’t think
