Eminem has revealed that longtime lensmen Spike Lee will step behind the camera and assume director duties for his upcoming video, “Headlights.” The collaboration is a surprising one. Spike, after all, is best known for revolutionizing Black cinema with classics like School Daze, Mo Better Blues and Do the Right Thing.
That is, when he isn’t dissing Clint Eastwood and Tyler Perry. Somewhere along the way, he’s made time to craft himself into a modern day Hype Williams.
Em and Spike posed for a picture in the rap star’s native Detroit, where it appears the video was shot. “Headlights” is featured on Em’s 2014 disc The Marshall Mathers LP 2.
