Elton John Writing Book on AIDS Epidemic
Elton John is writing a book on the global fight against HIV/AIDS.
The music legend, who is an outspoken activist against the deadly diseases, has inked a deal to release his first book this summer.
The tome, titled Love is the Cure: Ending the Global AIDS Epidemic, will include memories of friends who died of AIDS-related illnesses, including Queen frontman Freddie Mercury.
Elton says the book will ask why more is not being done to cure the disease.
“AIDS is a disease that must be cured not by a miraculous vaccine, but by changing hearts and minds, and through a collective effort to break down social barriers.”
British publisher Hodder & Stoughton says the book will be published along with an audio book read by the “Still Standing” pop star.
The book will arrive on booksellers’ shelves in July.
All proceeds will benefit the Elton John’s AIDS Foundation.
