But it's better to have your name on the check to the grocery store than to have your name at the top of the program at a silent auction. You can't keep up with the Jones' in LA - it is a vicious cycle. They were both very nice people. Especially Ed though and many thought it was strictly a May-December marriage, but Pam certainly loved Ed and vice-versa.

I worked for Ed and Pam McMahon for a while.

Ed was trying to work hard enough to keep up with the money Pam spent.

If someone important in LA was doing a philantropic project and called Pam for a donation she would evaluate what everybody else was giving and give more.

However she wasn’t so free about meeting her own obligation (bills).

Philantrophy sounds great if you have the money and your husband hasn’t already put one foot in the grave.
