“Eastwick” Producer “Furious” Over Cancellation
Eastwick executive producer Maggie Friedman is peeved that ABC has pulled the campy dramedy from its schedule.

On Tuesday, The Alphabet Network announced that it will complete production on its initial 13-episode order, but doesn’t wish to see anymore of the Paul Gross-Rebecca Romijn-starring series. Eastwick, based on the John Updike novel and 1987 film The Witches of Eastwick, has failed to conjure up good ratings since its premiere earlier this year, ABC said.
Friedman complains that the entire Eastwick cast and crew have had the rug pulled out from under them by news of the cancellation and writers will not be able to “wrap” up several running storylines.
“We’re smack in the middle of several insanely juicy stories,” executive producer Maggie Friedman said after learning of the cancellation. “And so we do not get a chance to wrap things up in a bow, which is killing me.”
Hundreds of fans have begun online petitions to save the show.
“I’m pretty furious, too. We have such an amazing group of writers and actors – best people I’ve ever worked with. None of us can believe this is really happening.”
Eastwick will air its series finale in January.
