Fans of late entertainment legend Eartha Kitt were left disappointed when the annual Oscars “In Memoriam” segment, which featured Bernie Mac, Paul Newman, Sydney Pollack, and others who passed away in 2008, failed to mention Kitt, who died on Christmas Day at the age of 81.

The “Santa Baby” singer co-starred in movies with Nat King Cole, Sammy Davis Jr., Sidney Poitier over the course of her career.

“The producers are either 12 or have been living under a rock for the past 60 years,” Kitt’s fired-up publicist, Andrew Freedman, fumed in a statement to the NY Post on Wednesday. “It’s clear that they thought that publicist Warren Cowan was more of a household name. Go figure.”

Actually, Heath Ledger was in last years tribute, not this one. They did leave out Don LaFontaine, George Carlin and Patrick McGoohan this year as well.

It was a blatant oversight that renowned singer, movie and stage actress Eartha Kitt was omitted from the Oscar memorial tribute. For heaven’s sake she died on Christmas day 2008!
