Big upsets and outstanding fashions are typically hot topics of discussion for E! bosses on the morning after Hollywood’s annual Golden Globe Awards. This year, however, the network that brought you the Girls Next Door and the Kardashian klan is doing damage control after it broadcasted an embarrassing fun fact regarding one of television’s most beloved stars.
During its Globes pre-show Sunday, E! flashed what it dubbed a “Fun Fact” about Michael J. Fox:
“Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991.”
Sure, it’s a fact. But fun? Hardly.
See what happens when you leave the interns in charge of the heavy lifting?
It didn’t take long for the team at Gawker to get their hot little hands on a screen grab of the gaffe, which has since gone viral.
E! has since issued an apology for the incident.
“We regret the insensitive classification of Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s diagnosis during our Eonline live stream. We understand the serious nature of the disease and sincerely apologize.
MJF hasn’t commented.
