Dustin Diamond “The Awesome ’80s Prom” Off-Broadway Production

Screech got a gig! Dustin Diamond — who played proverbial nerd Samuel “Screech” Powers on TNBC Saved By The Bell between 1987-1993 — will play himself in the Off-Broadway show The Awesome 80s Prom, TheaterMania.com said Monday. The limited engagement at New York City’s famed Webster Hall will run May 21 through June 26.

The show — described as an interactive nightclub experience set at the 1989 Wanaget High’s Senior Prom — will feature a host of high school characters popularized in teen comedys of the era, including The Geek, The Foreign Exchange Student, and The Jock.

Since his days as the loveable “geek” Dustin has been making his mark on reality television, appearing on shows like Celebrity Boxing and two seasons of VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club. Just last year, Diamond was excluded from the 20th reunion of Saved By The Bell after he penned a critically-panned tell-all book about his days on Saved The Bell, titled Behind The Bell.
