“Dreamgirls” Soundtrack Climbs to #1

For the five of you who still buy CDs, at least two must have gone out and bought “Dreamgirls” this past week. The soundtrack to the much-hyped movie about a ’60s girl group clawing their way to the top hit #1 on the Billboard charts this week. The movie features the singing styles of Eddie Murphy as a James Brown-like singer, Annika Noni Rose, American Idol’s Jennifer Hudson, and… oh, yeah, Beyonce.

The golden one?

By now a few of the rumors about Hudson stealing Ms. Knowles’ thunder have died down, but the hits just keep on coming for Miss Jennifer, who recently picked up awards for Best Supporting Actress from the New York Film Critic’s Circle and tied for Breakthrough Female Performance at the National Board of Review awards. Beyonce and Jennifer are bound to meet at this year’s Golden Globes where they are up for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy and Best Supporting Actress, respectively. Is this going to be one girl’s nightmare? Only one way to find out…
