What we wouldn’t give to have been a fly on the wall backstage at last month’s Daytime Emmy Awards. Word on the Celebrity Snitch Circuit claims small screen headshrinker Dr. Phil McGraw had a cow when the Emmy gods snubbed his daytime series in favor of the celeb-studded hit hosted by former supermodel Tyra Banks.

Despite wife Robin’s attempts to console him, Phil was livid when The Tyra Banks Show edged for the Best Informative Talk Show prize, The National Enquirer reports in its Sept. 21 issue.
“Dr. Phil was upset,” says an eyewitness, who was on hand for the self-help guru’s backstage meltdown. “He thought he was a shoo-in to win….It seems like his best days are behind him.”

In fact, Phil was so furious, he refused his stunning competitor’s offer of a hug.

“After Tyra won, she walked over to give him a hug backstage, but he turned around and stalked off,” tattles the tipster. But with two Emmy wins to her credit, the lacefront-rockin’ diva– who also host The CW’s America’s Next Top Model — was not about to let Dr. Sourpuss spoil her evening. With a flip of her hair, “she leaned over to a pal, rolled her eyes, and said, ‘Whatever.’”

Dr. Phil, an Oprah protege, has helmed The Dr. Phil Show through the Queen of Talk’s Harpo Productions Company since the Fall of 2002. He’s never won an Emmy Award despite multiple nominations over the past several years. Dr. Phil earned Best Host nods in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2007. The Dr. Phil Show was nominated for Best Informative Talk Show in 2007, 2008, and 2009.
