Amid rumors that Oprah’s Harpo Productions is planning to jump ship on his daytime talk show, Dr. Phil has admitted that perhaps he should have kept his lips zipped with the press in the wake of his bedside visit with Britney Spears.

“Was it helpful to the situation? Regrettably, no,” the fifty-seven year old said during a Thursday taping of the Dr. Phil Show to air on Monday, USA Today reports. “I definitely think if I had it to do over again, I probably wouldn’t make any statement at all. Period.”
